Where you are staying
- Hotel
- DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti — night 3 of 3.
Worth knowing
- Pompeii was a Roman city buried under volcanic ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in A.D. 79. The ash sealed and preserved streets, houses, frescoes, and mosaics — and the voids left by victims, later cast in plaster.
- Rediscovered in 1748, Pompeii is one of the world's most important archaeological sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- It is a large, open, sun-exposed site — bring water, sun protection, and good shoes.
- Vesuvius is still an active volcano; the same eruption also buried nearby Herculaneum.
Still to confirm
- Confirm the Pompeii tour pickup time (provider confirms 1–2 days before) and that the 8-hour trip returns to Napoli Centrale in time for the 20:30 train back to Rome.
