Install for offline use
Install the trip guide as an app so it works in airports, on trains, on a metro platform, and on flaky hotel wifi — even with no signal at all.
You'll lean on this site to look up a flight gate, a hotel address, tonight's confirmation number, or 112 in five languages — often when you're underground, in a basement restaurant, or behind a hotel captive-portal. Installing it to your home screen turns it into a full-screen app that opens instantly and works even when the network is slow or briefly absent.
Step 1 — install the app
- Open the site in Safari, Chrome, or Edge — any browser works on iOS 16.4 or later.
- Tap the Share icon (the square with the up-arrow) — at the bottom in Safari, in the ⋯ menu in Chrome or Edge.
- Scroll the share sheet and choose Add to Home Screen.
- Keep the name as TripSync and tap Add.
- The icon now lives on your home screen. Tapping it opens the guide full-screen, with no browser toolbar.
- Open the site in Chrome or Edge.
- Tap the ⋮ menu in the top right.
- Choose Install app (or Add to Home screen on older builds).
- Confirm. The icon appears in your app drawer and on your home screen.
Step 2 — download every page
Once installed, tap the button below while you're on wifi. The app will fetch every day page, every hotel, every customs sheet, and every reference into the on-device cache — usually in under a minute. After that, every page works without a connection.
How content stays in sync
When you're online, the app always checks the network first and shows the freshest content. The local cache is only used as a fallback when you have no connection. Every push from Clark or Ellen flows through to you the next time you open the app with even one bar of signal.
- Open the app once a day while you have wifi. That refreshes today's plan, tomorrow's plan, and any tour or train updates.
- Force-refresh if a page looks stale. On iOS: pull down at the top of any page. On Android: tap the ⋮ menu and choose Reload.
- No login to keep alive. On a real TripSync trip the unlock cookie lasts 60 days, so there's no password to re-enter mid-trip. (This demo has no password at all.)
- If you ever get a "you're offline" page for content you haven't visited, just retry once you reconnect — the next visit caches it for next time.
Before you fly
- Install the app on both phones (Clark's and Ellen's). On a real trip, anyone you share access with can install it on theirs.
- Tap Download for offline above, then put the phone in airplane mode and confirm you can open day 1, contacts, and customs.
- For each flight, tap Add to calendar on its day page — those .ics files live in your phone calendar and work without any internet.
